Hicks and Gillett won’t get another dime from me

"Tomorrow - let's burn another £110,000"

Flags, marches, discussions, rally’s, email campaigns, strongly worded banners, fantastic Photoshop mock-up graphics.

I’ve seen and heard them all, and been involved in a few in the past 12 months or so as slowly, but surely, the Liverpool FC supporting fanbase have come to realise that Liverpool isn’t just in trouble – it is in serious decline.

This weekend I was expecting a big statement of intent – a big determination that a vocal area of Liverpool FC fans was going to make a stand, draw a line in the sand and insist that the destruction of Liverpool FC would not be allowed to continue.

That statement wasn’t forthcoming.

According to the overwhelming majority of Liverpool supporters on the forum it really is time to punish the clubs owners where it really will hurt. Not on advertising hoardings in Liverpool – not on pre-match marches thousands of miles away from where they sleep comfortably in bed – not even through emails that are filtered out and emptied in to online trashcan’s. No.  The only message they will receive is the one that hits their wallet.

Under the present owners Liverpool FC are over £350M in debt.  The club has not had a transfer budget in almost 3 years.  We are scrambling around with mediocrity for our next manager (who will also have no money to buy players), rumours suggest more top players are on the way out of the club, the proposed Anfield stadium looks even more of a pipe dream than it did 3 years ago and we continue to burn money at an astonishing rate.

A Liverpool season ticket holder will see his annual payment (of around £700) ignited within 6 minutes.  Money saved for a year by a fan effectively torched by the clubs owners in the time of a commercial break.  That’s every 6 minutes, of every hour, of every day.

Liverpool FC simply cannot afford to continue burning £1M every 9 days on bank interest. The Royal Bank of Scotland may be rubbing their hands with glee at this money landing in their coffers, but with each passing day Liverpool FC is coming closer to financial meltdown.

Tom Hicks and George Gillett are holding out for £800M (for a club they bought for £200M) in 2007.  RBS will be in no rush to order them to sell as long as the interest is flying in.

So I’m going to do the best I can to ensure that Hicks and Gillett lower their valuation of the club.

Last year I estimated I helped prop up the owners by handing the owners around £600 in ticket money.  I’m sure a lot of other fans went to more games – I’m sure a lot went to less.

But for now my donation to their cause is over.  And I am supporting Not A Penny More.

I will not be attending Anfield until the present owners have left the club.  I will not be purchasing a single item from the official club store.  I will not be counted as one of their customers when they try to value the club at £800M.  I will not financially support the continued destruction of the football club I love.  I will not finance two owners who have discredited our club and rode roughshod over its supporters.

This ‘customer’ is officially on strike.  My conscience will be clear and I will know I am doing the level best I can to expedite the end of this distasteful period in the club’s history.

Judging by many of the comments I have read from other like-minded fans I know I am not walking alone.

  1. Am I missing something here? The ads to the right of the article on this website are for the official shirt – surely money from the sale of that on this website ultimately ends up in G&H’s pockets which would make your article grossly hypocritical.

  2. Now, get yourselves over here:

    http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=259045.760;start=%1$d

And look at P20 – about a quarter of the way down and then keep checking in.
For £20 you can make a difference by wearing something that represents OUR club, by making others, less educated reds better aware of the options to make a difference.

Don’t regret it by moaning and doing nothing about it.

    Spread the word.

This is not for profit – ANYTHING remaining after costs will go to HJC

  3. Lads / Lasses

I’m a first time poster on here, but a lifelong red, a veteran of some great nights and some tough times, but none as tough as this.
Any of you who post on other forums will know who I am from over there.

We’re all in agreement – we need new owners – Surely no-one contesting that?
We all want the best for OUR club.
We all agree that success on the pitch is NOT as important as the future of our club., but we all definately want more nights to celebrate.

Are you with me so far?

    • If you’re still with me, then stick with this next bit:

Boycotting club merchandise will not have a detrimental impact on the owners in the short term. I agree with this – its a drop in the ocean.
Boycotting tickets and empty stands – effective, but not likely whilst there are loads who don’t understand the challenge we face with the current ownership struggle.

So – we need to educate AND gain visibility and build awareness – get the media awareness of what we’re about….

      Still with me??

  4. as a fellow tom hicks victim (texas rangers) i both share your pain, and support your decision – he has been a bane to both our teams and it’s a wonder how this jerk has any money at all given his past decisions – cheers from across the pond

  5. With you all the way. Whatever it takes.
I usually travel from Oxfordshire twice a season and buy from the Liverpool FC shop a lot.
That stops until this idiots are forced out.
I grieve the team members we are losing.

  6. This breaks my heart. I’m from Texas and I am a fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars and have been a supporter of Liverpool FC for 20 years. Both Texas teams Hicks has screwed over and bled money for years and I knew this day would come for Liverpool as well. He is nothing but a money-sucking tyrant that cares nothing about the teams he owns nor does he care about the fans. There are many Texans that would gladly hogtie and deliver Hicks to Anfiled to receive his due punishment.

  7. naser i think your right in what you say just like steve in earlier post your both on the same lines keep it up mate but it is going to be dificult to educate some reds on this site i am sorry to say . red coloured specs am afraid naser mate but keep up the good work along ynwa

  8. Albey, who says the bid has to be 800m, the only people who can afford to pay any money will want a return. Yes the fans are being locked out, yes alot of us cant afford to go to the game, but this is the world we have got ourselves into. Rediculous wages, greedy owners, astronomical ticket prices. Look, if you dont want to go, dont go, I have had this debate but I’m in for another year. Stop the arguing, go the game, support the team or buy the club!

  9. so i suggest we don’t believe em just cos they say the club will be sold by end of 2010 – if you keep putting your money into lfc then the yanks will be hanging around for much longer than 2010 – surely after bein told so many lies you not gonna be sold another dummy by the yanks again – just cos they say they will be gone by end of 2010 doesnt mean they will. What’s sickening is the fact they have refused to sell to 2 tailor made buyers in the last few weeks due to their ridiculous askin price

  10. I know you guys are probably sick of my negative posts. however, those of you who think they should carry on funding the club cos the yanks are going are falling into the same old trap. see, the point is every word those 2 yanks have said or promised has been a lie, the cash for players, the stadium, the secure future etc – all a big lie. they have deceived us over and over because they bought our club and us being the most loyal fans to lfc believed it cos they said they were taking us places!

  11. if you want to secure the long-term future of our beloved lfc the you have to make this short term sacrifice. dont worry about thinking that we will lose gerrard and torres etc because to be honest, thats the least of lfc’s probs. players come and players go. if we can lose kenny, keegan, fowler, owen, barnes, beardo, aldo, rushy then we can lose anyone. you gotta act now, not tomorrow. dont you get it, by keepin your money to yourself right now will only help lfc in future. YNWA

  12. for anybody who thinks they are causing harm to lfc by boycotting lfc is wrong. you see, all the money going into lfc right now is helping the yanks to hold out for more money for the sale of the club which isnt gonna happen, instead all its doing is paying off the interest. by boycotting, you arent boycotting lfc because that is you and me, by which i mean us the fans. see you cant boycott yourself by keeping the dosh in your pocket but if you dont pay lfc then you boycott the yanks

  13. i am 100% in agreement with this. the only merchandise i will ever purchase are the collectors items from our successese of years gone by when the likes of king kenny used to grace the beautiful fields of anfield road. not a dime to the yanks or indeed lfc as long as the yanks are in charge. I wanted the loyal fans of lfc to boycott the games last year but unfortunately, us lfc fans are as gullable as we are loyal. if we could get our masses together to boycott we may now be better off

  14. george but that is the point mate we want some one in who is richer than the 45000 put together but we want them to invest there money in the club not take money out of it and as for those two guys will be history by the end of the season what makes you so sure george are you going to pay out £800.000000 for the club because i cant see any other person paying that amount for the club . and george if were all as passive as you seem to be we may as well stop living and breathing liverpool football

  15. Albey these two guys will be history by the end of the season and you will be standing outside saying I done that! (Rubbish) You will be outside looking for a ticket because you sold yours, someone richer then the 45000 put together will own the club.
What me and you do about not going to the game is futile we are their pocket money, am sorry you will have to go and support the team and I will do that even if you are playing in the number 9 shirt.
Dont get caught up in the politics!!!

  16. We Reds fans can make a sustained and stubborn effort when we put our minds to it – just ask the owners of the S*n Newspaper. Giving up a long sought after season ticket to see it snapped up straight away by someone else may be cutting your nose off to spite your face, but even season ticket holders could play a part by not spending a penny once through the gates at Anfield. Let’s face it that’s not much of a sacrifice, considering the price and quality of the food and drink on offer! YNWA

  17. Figin says ! this is not anti america this is anti two americans who have come to liverpool to make a quick buc kout of our football club there what your country men would call carpert baggers we thank you for your support in this mater FIGIN and long may it continue good on you mate .

  18. These owners don’t understand how precious English football is in the eyes of many, and yet a fan base that used to grow is now diminishing and populating other FC clubs such as Man U and Chelsea. We need owners who cherish Football as the beautiful game that it is. Not break it down into staggering debt. As for coaches like Benitez with very little money coming for players and big contract signings, what option does he have when they 2-0 down and all the best guys are on (we missing key players)!

  19. Very well said. It truley is a sad state of affairs when we are forced to make decisions as dramatic as this. The important word here is forced. It’s gut wrenching to think what these corporate vultures have done to our club. They have forced fans into making the only legitimate stance left.

Your conscience should be clear mate.

And no, you don’t walk alone.

  20. What are you on about george looking for a way out because we have had a barron run you are taking the piss arnt you mate ? and as for tv revenue were do you think that is going to go george when we are carrying the two nob heads debt on the clubs shoulders just scroll back and read the blogs sent in here mate . just out of curiosity how do you think we can get the two yanks out george or should we just leave them there to take the club out of excistence all together ?

  21. Sorry boys, there are too many out there looking for a way out because of out baron run. I cant believe you think you can win by not going to the game, revenues are up next season and for the next three seasons due to the TV, so stopping going to the game is a no no. I support LFC, my life has been LFC, so we have to belive these two guys will go this year, the players stay and we can get on with our first love.

  22. here here, to those who want to support our team, without supporting the Yanks who are murdering our club, there is an alternative kit being put together by some members of the RAWK forum, from what i’ve seen kit looks good, and will stand out at the ground.
    join the fight
    YNWA

  23. Red jay if the people could buy out liverpool from them parasites that would be wonderful but i am affraid it wont happen jay the credit crunch has possibly put paid to that idea though it is a very good one mate . As for hurting the club any more than it has been jay some times you have to be cruel to be kind what my fellow reds want is the same as you get them parasites out the club and this the only road left to do that mate and we hate going down that road but needs must my friend

  24. I WOULD NEVER OF BELIEVED I OR MY FELLOW REDS WOULD EVER INTEND TO BOYCOTT ANY THING TO DO WITH OUR BELOVERED LIVERPOOL FC IT BREAKS MY HEART TO SEE IT HAPPENING NOW BUT TO GET THESE PARASITES OUT OF OUR CLUB WE ALL HAVE TO DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE BUT NOT NEGATIVE TOWARDS THE CLUB BUT AGAINST THEM PARASITE’ S I JUST PREY THAT IT WONT COME TO BOYCOTTING ANYTHING BECAUSE THE PARASITE’S HAVE SOLD UP AND GONE BACK TO THE USA WERE THEY BELONG , KEEP BELIEVING MY FELLOW REDS !

  25. Sorry people I can’t agree with you guys.
I don’t want to hurt the club anymore that it has been.
I just think that trying to protest financially is a negitave thing to do and could end up doing more harm than good.
I still think that the fans should have a option to buy the club. Just like Barcalona
What does anyone think on the subject of fans buying the club?
Much more positive question me thinks.

  26. Brilliant stuff lads. I couldn’t agree more. 3 years ago I stopped going and I’ve no intention of going back until they’re gone. People on here have commented saying it doesn’t make a difference well all I can say to that is I’M NOT PREPARED TO BE TOM HICKS’ SLAVE which is effectively what you are by handing over all your hard earned cash so he can rape our club!

  27. 100% behind you. How some dog meat vendors have been allowed to come to our club and destroy it, i will never understand. For now LFC is being blocked out of my life.

  28. If you pay any attention to the gossip columns, there won’t be much of a team to watch next season. By the time Liverpool get themselves a manager, all our assets will be stripped and we will be left with the reserves and the players we can’t sell.

  29. i’m not a season ticket holder and would not ask anyone to give up theres .
but i would ask everyone to stop buy anything else connected to the club , e.g shirts mag e -season ticket
its to much to ask of fans to give up season tickets because you just wont be able to get one again .
but everything else can be bought again after yanks have gone.
    YNWA

  30. What about not attending all the cup games carling ,fa and the europer cup matche s now that that would hit them in there pocket then supporters wouldnt have to give up there season tickets and wouldnt lose the chance to make there feelings highlighted to them two parasites . just a thought !

    • By boycotting cup games, ST don’t have to give up their hard to get tickets but can still make a big point.

To those who say the lack of funds makes us more difficult to sell, that’s incorrect. Hicks will hang on for as long as possible (see how his sale in Dallas has been drawn out) as he is happy to leech off the club with 10% interest building on his personal loans to the club, whilst waiting maybe years for a silly offer to come in.

  31. This needs a concerted, vigorous campaign which the present leadership of Spirit of Shankly seem incapable of leading. Maybe they should step aside if they haven’t got the stomach for the fight.

By now people have bought their season tickets and we have to deal with it. I would expect them not to attend boycotted matches and to partispate in mass protests outside the ground while boycotted games are going on like every other Red. I’d also expect them not to buy any merchandise from anywhere.

  32. I belive an afective way to get the message across would be to have a total no atendence at one of the home games next season one being showen live on TV to a world wide ordience(Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal)

  33. Every true red will stick their hand in their pocket for their team, no question. I don’t want my £600 be swiped by the mrs so she can get thaat new sofa. I want liverpool to succeed and I don’t mind paying for it, but I don’t want Bonnie and Clyde getting my hard earned cash. The idea of Liverpool being owned by the fans is the only way forward. Our money needs to accumulate as capital elsewhere so we can buy out those scoundrels when they’re on their knees.

  34. Just a word of warning to all you season ticket holders who are threatning to hand back there season tickets i have a work collegue who has supported man united since the george best era and he was dispondent with the glazers he gave up his season ticket as protest towards the glazers . I spoke to my friend about what he had achieved in giving up his season ticket and his answer was F*CK ALL so if i were you lot i would think long and hard you wont get it back .

  35. Hi all I am a lifelong RED and used to come across the sea to watch the Redmen every couple of weeks. However last season I made a stance and stopped coming over. I will not attend another game or buy merchandise until the Yanks have left our club. To get the ball rolling on a high volume petition I will start up a Facebook page encouraging all reds to boycott the club – my only concern is that if fans stop attending games, what will this do to the players confidence?
    YNWA!!!!

  36. Well I think we should start a facebook campaign threatening to boycott Liverpools first home game, if we can get enough support the word would be out and I am sure RBS will put more pressure on the yanks to accept lower bids, or if people will not go that far a complete boycott of buying anything at all inside the ground or the shop. We as fans cannot just sit and moan about our club if we want something done direct action is only solution, my facebook is PJ Hill if u want me start a campaign

  37. I am with you after 40 years of support I will not watch, buy anything from the LFC as long as the yanks are still with the club. It hurts me to say it but a stand is needed.

  38. Totally agree – this is the only strategy that will force the Yanks out, every Liverpool supporter should act on this and force their hands.

The players should also refuse to play for the club until they are gone – maybe we should picket the training ground.

A collective effor by everyone that truly loves the club can make things happen – its about time Hicks and Gillet found out who they are messing with!!

  39. Totally Agree!!! Well Put!! Lets start a movement, tell every Liverpool fan you know, shout it on the roof tops and scream till your lungs are sore. Not a single penny more for the yank scum bags…

  40. If the official liverpool fan club can do something about this, it will be great.
If I have the power to influence, I would like to call upon all the fans who support the club to stop going to the games and stop buying the merchanise until a worthy buyer is found.
This way, the americans will be forced to hasten their sales process and lower their valuation in order to cover cost.
Can you imagine, Anfied at less than 10K fan weekly….that will be the strongest signal to the owners.

  41. The asset stripping has started with the apparent sale of benayoun to Chelsea.
I have cut up my LFC credit card, haven’t bought the new shirt and won’t be renewing my membership. If the club is devalued and there are no finances coming in, they (the yanks) will struggle with the repayments and then RBS will force their hand to sell the club at a lower price, in order for RBS to recoup the money owed……..
    Viva la Boycott…..

  42. From a life-long LFC fan living in Melbourne…I have always supported LFC financially by buying the latest replica kits, scarves, cups, duvet covers & pillow cases for my kids etc – the list is endless. BUT NO MORE!!! I agree 100%. The only way these 2 disgraceful idiots will learn is if we hurt them where they fear it most – in their pockets! Last week I cancelled my e-ticket subscription with the official LFC website and I will NOT BUY the new Standard Charter kit UNTIL these idiots are GONE!

  43. I know plans are afoot for an alternative shirt, but it needs to be visible. People are mentioning a black shirt which won’t be seen. As a lifelong red – attending games for 28 years before I left, and a recent ex pat to the USA, my team here, the Philadelphia union, was petitioned by the sons of Ben for 3-4 years before they got a team. The sob shirts are bright cyan to be seen in the crowd, and the cyan olor in our crest reflects that. Why don’t the alternative shirts emulate the inter shirts. 1, in support of rafa, 2, black is the proposed color of the sly shirts ans 3, blue is the anti-red. Just a thought so don’t murder me. Instead if a sponsor maybe it should say ‘on-strike’.

    • SOS on the front for the Sponsor would be great ! but it should have a link to the club more than to Rafa (in the sense of colour) because the Club is the most important thing here and it would just shift attention more to Rafa than to the state of the Club I feel.
A blue and white halved shirt similar to what you see today at Blackburn Rovers was the original colours before Shanks and maybe a kit like this would embody our fears and anger at going backward ?!

  44. I whole heartedly agree i live in Australia but have stopped buying club gear and i will not come over to see a game until this problem is fixed.
I do read an MP in England wants to alleviate the ownership problem hope he succeeds and i just hope good news is just around the corner.

  45. I always we should have done that instead of going on march and such. This is the only avenue that they will be hurt totally.
We have to reach a consensus here for the future of our long love club – LFC and maintain the spirit and keep fighting till the next devoted and dedicated owner takes over.
Let’s unite and fight KOP!! It’s now or never!!

  46. Not only must the Yanks leave, their equally evil stooge Purslow must also leave with them. He has been their main tool of mischief in unsettling the manager through a media campaign against the very club which is paying his high undeserving salary and bonuses. Spoke lies to the SOS reps, then refused to issue agreed minutes of that meeting held several months agol! He was brought to arrange funds for transfer activity. Having totally failed, he fired the manager to divert attention.

  47. I think that the green and yellow scarfs worn by United supporters have made a huge impact in the media, why can’t we launch a similar campaign?

  48. You people overvalue yourselves. Your financial contribution to Liverpool is next to worthless. Disagree? Then do the maths.
The original poster said he contributed £600 last year. Well, let’s say he has contributed the same amount EVERY YEAR for TWENTY YEARS. That’s £12,000. That’s LESS THAN ONE DAY’S WAGES for Torres or Gerrard. The total money you’ve spent on Liverpool for TWENTY YEARS is less than a miserable ONE DAY’S player wages.
So In reality, your attendance won’t be missed at all.

    • If you calculate that figure on-mass i.e. 20-25 thousand supporters worth then it would amount to a nice dent in the takings as apposed to your summary of one fans influence !
ofcourse one fan wouldn’t make a difference financially but a large amount of fans with a voice and not just removing 20 odd thousand fans worth in ticket sales but also club merchandise e.g. shirt’s, programmes, scarves and so on the tally would mount up and force people to stand up and take note !

  49. Couldnt agree more about boycotting anything financial associated with Liverpool. Its the only language Hicks and Gillett will understand.

I believe there will be lots of support for this kind of action and it will only grow and grow. There will always be people who dont support it, but if we act as individuals, collectively there will be a change in their revenue over time. I honestly believe that.

  50. PHIL YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ORGANISE A BOYCOTT OF THE GAMES, I THINK THAT IT WOULD BE EASIER TO HAVE A SIT IN ON THE PITCH AT ANFIELD. THEY WOULD FIND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY A GAME OF FOOTIE WITH A HUNDRED PEOPLE ON THE PITCH AND THE POLICE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CLEAR THE PITCH. IF THEY CAN’T PLAY A GAME ON ANFIELD WILL THE P/L CLOSE THE GROUND? I CERTAINLY HOPE SO. NO GAMES -NO MONEY.

  51. I’m an American red and agree wholeheartedly. I have not bought any Liverpool related merchandise for the past couple of years, and I do not subscribe to the website. I urge all reds worldwide to boycott everything that puts money into these two leaches’ pockets.

  52. Can anyone with the computer knowledge put on this website a petition for us to sign with our name and home location, to say that we will not be buying any more merchandise of Liverpool fc anywhere in the world and agree to purchase all their food before entering the ground. Lets get this started to let the yanks know before the season just what they have brought on themselves.

    • We intend to in the next few days. Over 84% of Liverpool fans on our forum support match boycott’s. The responses to my post have been very supportive.

I don’t want to endure another full season of email campaigns. It’s time we stood together and put in to action what needs to be done.

  53. I’m not a season ticket holder, well done for taking the stance and good luck. I hope this is supported by reds far and wide to extinguish Hicks and Gillet forever……

  54. So your solution to get rid of hicks is to not buy tickets or merchandise?
Less money going into the club = a davalued club.
There fore a club with more debt.
Therefore a club that is harder to sell.
The Americans have decided to sell. Them not making more money from fans will not change that. It will make it harder for them.
May e we should all go out and buy a kit and try and decrease the debt and make it as easy as we can for them to sell.

  55. As a Liverpool fan from 1960 I despair at my beloved club and I applaud your decision to make a stand against these 2 men who seem intent on destroying our club.
I totally believe 1 concerted effort would see the back of these 2 men and that for me would be to completely boycott the first home game, if someone had the time energy and werewithal to try and organise an empty stadium I am sure the message would hit home and they would be out.

  56. I am a scouser and season ticket holder for many years. I will renew my season ticket because I want to go and watch my team play. I don’t, and never have, bought the tat in the club shops, don’t buy the over priced fatty food and horrible Carlsberg lager. The programme is too expensive, so I don’t buy it. Perhaps people should boycott the rubbish sold by the club for less emotional reasons. You don’t become a Liverpool supporter by buying an overpriced bobble hat or hoodie.

    • Brilliant Bob!!!!! Imagine half the Kop wearing Inter shirts with Rafa on the back next season… That would be a great coup, and it would show just how much we appreciated our former manager after what he’d done in firstly taking the yanks on and secondly his donations to J96 and the Lily Centre….
Remember people if you purchase your season ticket, if you buy a pie. If you buy a Standard Chartered shirt…You know where that money’s going. So you have no right to complain about the owners…

  57. So if the stadium is half empty and fans are not buying the shirts, do you really think RBS will allow the yanks to hold out for silly money, now let me think…..?????

  58. Finally, beginning to catch on. I was talking about this eighteen months ago. For those suggesting that for everyone who gives up there season ticket there will be someone to replace them, really, I gave mine up and wouldn’t even consider going back till they are gone, because my hard earned cash will not be going to these carpet-baggers. Sadly we are in for 2, 3 maybe 4 years of decline, the only way it can happen more quickly is if the fans stop spending giving their money to the yanks.

    • I understand the arguament from both sides but the point is, you gave up your season ticket and someone else bought it so the yanks didn’t lose anything and when they are gone you will still be without your ticket.

I already got the new home shirt, but had I known of this protest against financing the yanks I wouldn’t have.

I say, attend the games, the players need our support, as they are going through this too. But boycott buying any additional goods but please dont turn on the players.

  59. The only people who will benefit from the demise of L.F.C.is the GREEDY GLAZERS they will make millions from selling manure crap to the Asians. American business men are raping the Premiership.

  60. About time! I have personally taken this stance since they removed the one man trying to take them on and stick up for what LFC stands for. Get lost Yanks we don’t want you here and take your devious two faced board members with you. LFC YNWA – Yanks out!

  61. It doesn’t matter how many people are joinging in with the boycott right now. A journey of a thousand steps always beging with the first one.
    Is your conscience clear..?
40 years I’ve supported the club and this is not the club I started to support.
Until the owners are gone they will get not a penny more from me.

    • Wake up and smell the bullshit Joe, it is part of H & G plan to sell of the assets of the club and it was only Rafa who stood in the way,

  62. Well… it would be great if those funds (ticket sales, merchandise) that would normally have gone into the pockets of Gillet and Hick somehow continued to accumulate elsewhere out of the reach of those (alleged) crooks. It every supporter continued to put their money in the pot but instead into one bank account so eventually there were enough funds to buy those lovely gentlemen from across the pond out!

  63. It would be great to get a boycott campaign big enough to catch the eye of the press and broadcasters. It would be great if this momentum con tinued to grow leading to a substantial drop in revenue for the yanks. Unfortunately, as far as I’m aware the debt is in Liverpool’s name. So if the Yanks play hard ball, then ultimately The Club could og into financial ruin. What can be done about this? Well…

  64. The ground will be full first home game next season, its reality. It would be great if it was empty and stayed empty, but that will never happen.
Find an alternative. Taking the Yanks on head on, we lose. But this week several Liverpool Mp’s are going to raise the concern in the Parliament. Get behind them and pressurise the government via the biggest petition ever raised. Via the net (we boast we have 1 million fans worldwide) use them along with our MP’s to pressure the government & the RBS.

  65. couldn’t agree more. have not bought the kit last year and went to no games and wont go to any till they go.
If they wont put money in our club why should we.
thats the frase that should be put up on bill boards and it will drive them yanks blody crazy. we might loose stevie and torres this way to make up the funds may even get relegated at the pace we are going but once they are gone and some one with sense comes for us we will be back in the stores back at anfield and back to the top.

  66. I dont have any money to spend anyway…
But honesty, these actions are not premature or execive, I’ve seen United fans protesting against Glaizers with their club fighting for the title.
LFCfans would be happy to see the club playing CL, and our players not moving to Chelsea (Yossi) with us having Chelsea supporting Chairman. Embaresing.
Now we wait for Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano from the WC and how can we really expect tham all to stay?
Fans must organize and make the protest real

    • i am going to get spanked for this but……….
if torres, gerrard and mach go for good, great, obscene money. And that money is not swallowed up the yanks ass. you could rebuild the team to a certain extent. gerrard will be 30. torres very much missed. masch not so! Baenyoun 30 bye! I am not a Fc manager but >>>>>>>>>> surely you could do a lot with these $$$$

  67. Just a thought, what if people took the protest to hicks’s home (i say hicks cos its well documented that Gillett has tried to sell a few times but always been vetoed by Hicks) . I know its expensive to fly to America but imagine if you could get a camp set up outside his house, and Liverpool fans can come and go., in fact even the Liverpool fans in USA could attend, it may be a pipe dream but what do people think?

  68. i myself have not bought my kids the new kitt to put in them so called ass bandits pockets there what you call a pair of old fashiond tight ass twats and to be really honest intill they sell are beloved club i will no longer be going the game sad thing to do but hay if we dont stand we will all fall

  69. You will only spite yourself.
If all the season ticket holders gave up their tickets tomorrow then they would just be replaced by the next day trip fan with some money.
Any season ticket holder that gives up his ticket is an idiot.
I don’t like the two yank planks either but they own the club and as you have seen. They will do what ever they want with it regardless of what some fans may do.
You words and actions will all be in vain m8
Fair play to your sentiment though.

    • Will you still pay for a season ticket when we get relegated, the time to act is now, I undferstand ST holders not wanting to give them up so please think of something else that you can do.

      • I will support my team through thick and thin.
Owners, Managers and players come and go.
Look how lofty AC Milan were years ago. The same will happen to Man Utd
In my opinion things can’t get much worse. So the only way is up.

        YNWA

        • It can’t get much worse? Mate, Im sorry but what the hell are you on about? Ever increasing debt with no new owners in sight and players leaving how is it NOT going to get worse?

  70. you have been mis fed information about the debts there are not as extortinate as you are claiming. It would not be in RBS’s interest to see a huge money maker which is liverpool placed into bankruptcy. Support your club and the players give them a reason not to leave

    • sorry mate u r really wrong. lack of transfer kitty, top players jumping ship, no start on stadium, no borrowing on club to purchase, seriously are you related to them?
      r u for real?
      no reinvestment.
dare i say it Rafa is gone? no top coach wants the job.
r we really in the know????????? LOL
      it makes me cry

  71. Its time to stop buying anything that helps the YANKS and its high time this Broughton gave us an update regarding finding a suitable seller- for him to work one day a week is a bloody disgrace..

  72. I hate the fact that the wonderful club that is LFC is being destroyed by “the Yanks”…these are businessmen, not football fans, and NOT representative of the Americans that love LFC and it’s players. I live in a small town in the southern USA and would LOVE the opportunity to see my favorite team in person and have the Anfield experience. I hope you Brits can save it before its too late. There are many of my fellow true football fans who follow LFC closely from across the pond.
    YNWA!

  73. couldn’t someone with real clout offer an alternative liverpool strip for fans to buy and the money go towards a charity like alder hey childrens hospital…. the more money raised would keep attracting more and more headlines and in the end would be also serving a good cause. maybe an all white top with something written on it or a colour that would stand out in the crowds at anfield to give a real statement??

      • What about the original colour from before Shankly changed our kit colours ( or do we think that would show a lack of respect to Shanks?) Or possibly an exact replica of the home/away kit from his debut season in charge ? with a gold insignia around the Liverbird, something like ” For the Spirit Of Shankly And For The Spirit Of Our Club” thats the way to go so that people see that shirt everywhere !!!!!!!

    • mate this could have traction and it hurts the Yanks!
i would buy some in Aussie land and i am sure others would. Season long statement.
i heard a saying once dug in like alabama ticks and thats what these idiots are!
make it and i and others will buy i will even help fund it if the proceeds go to a charity

  74. from day one it was about profit for them, this is not an american football franchise they just move around and play with, this is liverpool football club the greatest football club in the world!!!! and if it means a boycott to save it so be it, we cannot let these gangsters away with this anymore!!!!
    YNWA!!!!!!

  75. I suggested this as the only solution to a friend of mine months ago. The stadium should be left empty. no money for the yanks. On match days, the supports should gather outside the stadium and show their support for LFC and their hate of the yanks. It is the only solution

  76. ctd..
I might be one of the few that will support Liverpool regardless of who owns, manages or plays. It hurts seeing how they have treated the club, but I love the club and will support it regardless.
Any true fan wouldnt give up their ticket so that some japanese tourist can take it. A true fan supports!! Remember a song about a storm.. holding your head up high…. nah… sod that, you dont fancy going out in the rain!!

    • Of course we will always support Liverpool.
But this has to end before it is too late.
Not a single more cent to Hicks and Gillett.

    • We aren’t going to stop supporting Liverpool, just the reverse actually! TRUE Liverpool fans will keep their money in their pockets until is going to betefit the club, and not line the pockets of the yanks!!!

      • So if u renew your season ticket and give the club money, you are not a true liverpool fan. what rubbish to spout. There is over a forty thousand waiting list, do you think a joe blogg who as been on that list for over ten yearswill not buy a season ticket if one came available due to season ticket holders boycotting. I don’t think so. A very childish statement to make. I’ve been a Liverpool fan all my life so don’t tell me i am a fake.

  77. While my heart agrees that we the season ticket holders hold a powerfull veto that will cripple the yanks, The reality is that I along with every other season ticket holder am a liverpool fan.
If I do that, the the chance of me ever getting another, once they are gone, is nil given the wait list.
Also if i give up my ticket, I am not stupid enough to believe oneone else will snap it up.
Sorry but thats reality. Thats how they have us by the balls.

    • They have got a bit of a grip on season ticket holders.
But not on the other 20 thousand seats each game and not for cup games. I bought a few tickets from ST holders who couldn’t go to midweek games last year. I won’t be there to help those ST holders out until the Yanks have reduced their price, left and taken their cronies with them.

  78. So to encourage new investment, you honestly believe that lowering the income of the club will encourage someone to buy it???
    Business minds eh.
I hate the yanks but a failing business does not attract buyers. A club where sos organise protests if things dont go their way is also off putting to potential owners. Lets say I was a sheik with gazillions to invest… would I want to be forced to do things a certain way or risk seeing the national flag burned and your name tarnished. no!

    • mabye you should send your bank details to tom and george then,it is common knowlege that when the two that took out a leverage buy out and the same at manure had seen there empires crumbling in the usa,so they looked around and mugged 2 north west teams with global appeal and assets in the millions, now as in our case they intend to squeeze the life out of us to prop up their failing ventures at home, mabye two or three big players will go after the world cup then next year ?????

  79. The reality is we are going to be in this predicament for the foreseeable future (maybe years) and the fans will continue to hand over their hard earned cash and moan, moan and moan. WHEN YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY ON OUR BELOVED CLUB REMEMBER WHERE THAT MONEY IS GOING AND WHAT’S IT USED FOR .

    BOYCOTT_BOYCOTT_BOYCOTT

  80. There will be no buyer, the Yanks will continue to suck the life out of the club for years to come. The only way to eliminate the cancer is to have a radical approach. The solution is to devalue the club…boycott, boycott, boycott. boycott matches, boycott merchandise and finally boycott anything that lines the yanks pockets.

    • the only way too get them out is to buy it ourselves surely we could all come up with 3000 pound in my money roughly $9000 dollars and start buying shares back? Some can buy more some can buy less. what do we need roughly 100,000+ people. Fans owned club?

  81. i’m not buying anything lfc neither!!!!that’s hurt but it’s time to react against the two yanks.hope we get millions around the world who boycot them.long life to lfc. i curse the two moron yanks!!!!

  82. Well said and it is about time for this type of movement to grow. I have resolved to not purchase the new kits or anything else until this mess is over.

  83. I’m a season ticket holder and I’m not one of these “if I give it up now I’ll never get it back” types. I’m a “I’m going to wait until the very last day of renewals and then let them have it back” types!

Real Liverpool fans won’t just give up on the auto-cup scheme. They will fall on their swords and buy nothing from the club…..NOTHING AT ALL.

  84. I am maltese Liverpool fc fanatic, with the emblem tattooed. I agree 100 % with what you wrote. That’s the only way to get them out. Please Liverpool supporters wake up do the same, don’t leave these two to make money from our beloved club.

  85. I’m with you my friend. However, unless a huge majority o fans join us, it will be ultimatly in vain; but at least I’ll know I tried to do something.

  86. I have to say I fully agree with you, until new owners are found the club will get nothing from me.
I travel from Ireland on a regular basis eventhough I do not have a season ticket I attend 90% of the home games league and cup have always purchased my fair share of merchandice but no more.!!!
I simply cant stand by and watch them steal my money using the love i have for the club.
Im having to put on hold my daughters trip to see our beloved team untill the problems are solved.

  87. I have told my kids about these bad americans and that we won`t buy any more LFC shirts before they`re gone. And of course we wont go to Anfield again before they`re gone. I think slowly, but surely, this is going to happen. LFC fans around the world are starting to understand that they are being kept as hostages by the two americans. With a fanbase of millions, the boycott won`t happen fast. But it will happen. And sadly, it is starting to affect how we generally look at americans.

  88. I totally agree and have already decided to do just that, even though it has meant upsetting my son who wanted the new home kit, i have refused to buy it. Enough is enough

  89. We need thousands of more customers like you and me. I have said this on a dozen web sites ever since Rafa was fired for demanding money for players. We may all disagree on tactics, etc but there is no disagreement on the need for a big transfer kitty this year. Let us start a managable campaign today. Let each supporter with similiar views visit at least 10 web sites each day to circulate this msg.

    • ive been told that the macharano deal was agreed before benitez left and he objected to it,then finaly he accepted he had no choice and wanted the procedes to buy players and was told it wont, that im told was the last straw for him.THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BOYCOT OF GAMES,THEN THE BANKS WILL CALL THE LOAN IN WICH THE YANKS CANT AFFORD THEN THEY WILL BE FORCED TO GO.any money going into the club is being taken to prop up their failed enterprises in the good old us of a

  90. I’ve a season ticket so am reluctant to give it up as it would be hard to get back. However, this season and until Hicks and Gillett have gone, I will not enter the autocup scheme and will boycott all cup games. Not one penny more than the cost of the basic season ticket. Nothing bought in the ground, no club merchandise, no kits for the kids.

  91. Have allready withdrawn my finacial support from the yanks including cancelling sky sports until their is a change. Glad to see others coming around to my way of thinking.

  92. Great sentiments but the problem is that for every 1 person who will give up their seat, there is someone waiting to replace them. I’m not prepared to stop supporting my team, what I’ve done is move my mortgage, bank account and credit cards from RBS/Mint, written to all members of the RBS board explaining my decision and stating until they end this alliance with Hick/Gillette I’ll not use any of their products. May not have the same £ impact but I’m 1 less customer to collect interest from.

    • that in will hurt them more than a few tickets and shirts. if i had my mortgage with RBs I probably would too! prob is there are not enough who would do what you have done.

      Legend in my mind

  93. I agree wholeheatedly. Hicks and Gillette have had nothing from me for over a year and they wont be getting anything until they’re gone.
Come on lads, kick ’em out by letting ’em know they get no revenue from now on.

  94. I for one will not watch, buy or have anything to do with Liverpool FC until the Yanks are out; until that day I see and hear for myself that on Sky News sports or bbc etc that they have sold and are gone, and that the new owners we are to have can put the money in, and again are not mislead to us; then and only then will I buy that Liverpool white shirt – you know what I mean
