Zenden, the knife, and 5 weeks

Bolo ZendenThe unloved midfielder Bolo Zenden has joined the masses of Liverpool midfielders on the Anfield treatment table after injuring his knee, and specifically the medial ligaments.

The Dutchman will undergo surgery tomorrow and will be out till at least the New Year.

His best mate Rafa was not best pleased:

“It’s a big blow for us to lose Bolo. He is a big help to all the players here because he mixes very well.”

(Benitez neglecting to explain the impact on the actual playing performances).

Either Jamie Carragher or Daniel Agger is a distinct possibility of partnering Steven Gerrard in central midfield.

Still Rafa had time to have a little joke that he STILL isn’t happy at playing Steven in the middle:

“At least nobody can question where I play Steven Gerrard now!”“He’s the only fit central midfielder I have got left so that is where he plays.

“That is the end of the talk about his role, I hope, because I have no other choice.”
