A Liverpool cup win at Anfield – must be the kids!

by Ian Sweeney | Friday 26th January 2007

After a couple of miserable Anfield cup tie’s for the reds, the youngsters showed the senior side exactly how to progress in a domestic cup tournament tonight at Anfield.

The reds youth side, current holders of the FA Youth Cup, despatched Reading out of the tournament and now move in to the Quarter Finals.

Jimmy Ryan scored the only goal of the game as Liverpool won 1-0, following on from his goal against Chelsea in the last round. His first half goal was all that separated the two sides and Liverpool will now face either Sheffield United or Middlesbrough away.

Liverpool Team: Hansen; Darby, Spearing, Threlfall, Burns; Ryan, Barnett, Flynn, Putterill; Lindfield, Woodward.

New signing Astrit Ajdarevic played for the second half.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the Youth Side at Anfield.
