Liverpool supporters marched before the game and sang constantly throughout it in support of the manager and the reds boss has paid special mention to the fans in his post match comments:

“I want to say thank you to our supporters because I think that they were as always magnificent,” said Benitez.

“The most important thing is the team so I say thank you for the support. To the players it was important as I said before the game and it was also for me, so I say a thank you, a big thank you.”

After Torres’ missed chances on Saturday, Benitez was pleased to see his record signing back amongst the goals:

“For me it doesn’t matter the price.”

“Sometimes people say you spent this money, but Voronin was a Bosman transfer and he has been really good so it is not important the money.

“Torres is a player who can score goals. He missed three or four chances the other day against Newcastle but today he scored and sometimes this is how it happens.”

Hi i am a big Liverpool fan and a Rafa fan but did anyone else notice the change in the game as soon as Crouchie came on the field. Rafa you have to play the big guy from the start. We went from laclustre to amazing as soon as Crouchie came on. The defence fell to pieces. I like Voronin but for me there is no comparison with Crouch. His prescence on the field send terror through the opposition. I feel if Rafa doesnt show more faith in the big fella he will walk. This would be a tremendous loss for liverpool. Crouch is on fire for club and country so his name should be the first on the team sheet, every game, when fit.

started off well, then after we scored we fell asleep. 2nd half we started off slow, but when the great aussie came on he changed the game.he started to run at there defence.crouch came on then portos defence totally lost it.my point is what a great subs bench we have in every game.if things are not goin to plan, rafa has all the ammunition he needs to change it around. he is a tactical genius and we are so lucky to have him as are manager, mancs beware!!!!
