Reports in today’s news suggest that Jamie Carragher is ready to retire from his international career to concentrate on football at Liverpool.

The 29 year old has been a bit part player for England, unfancied by successive England managers, despite his hero status at Anfield.

According to the Mail on Sunday a source close to Jamie said:

“Jamie does not want to sound like a big-time Charlie.

“He just feels that at this stage in his career it would be better if he concentrated his efforts on helping Liverpool become the No 1 team in England again.

“He has always regarded it as a tremendous honour to represent his country…but things have to end some time and he thinks this might be a good time to bow out.”

Great news. England have been guilty of ruining so many liverpool players in both affecting their confidence and through needless injuries. Carra is vital for us. England can do without him.

Bout time to,been overlooked for far to long, like how the hell does Rio get in ahaead of him and then when Gary ‘Scumbag’ Neville is injured,Wes Brown is in.
Carra is no quitter but I think he should say thanks but no thanks, look what happened Scholes when he retired,it can only be good for us.

YNWA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great news for reds. However, Carra’s treatment by England has been shambolic. A succession of poorer players seemingly ahead of him. King, Brown , Woodgate, Ferdinand!!! Ask foriegners who they would least like to play against, answer is the same all the time.

Only when the rest of the defenders are injured then he gets to play for england, like some sort of left-overs, best he retires and fully concentrate on Liverpool.

If the team is being picked on Merit and performances then there’s absolustly no way Carra should be left out. McClaren picking his old scummer mates and picking Ledley King ahead of Carra, “You don’t know what you’r doing” comes to mind. Good news for Liverpool shame for Carra!!

I’m not surprised. Been by far the best central defender in the Premiership for some time so it must be really demoralising to see some of the dross picked ahead of him (King, Woodgate).
Great for Liverpool but disappointing for him on a personal level.
Another England Manager who hasn’t a clue what he is doing.

Carra as good if not better than Terry. Better and more consistant than Ferdinand. King and Woodgate not fit to clean his boots .Probally the most consistant central defender in Europe last season, but still that muppet Mc,Claren ignores him.Liverpool gain butEngland loss.
