Liverpool ‘no offer’ for Torres

Fernando Torres - Liverpool bound?Just when you thought the reds were nearing their first major transfer of the summer, out comes the Atletico Madrid president with:

"We've had no offer from Liverpool for Torres."

"He's on his holiday and resting.

"I repeat that there has been nothing about Torres from any team. We're now working to create a good team for the coming year."

Great.

Liverpool ‘no offer’ for Torres

  1. I think Torres just might head to Liverpool;

    Atletico Madrid have dropped the biggest hint yet that Fernando Torres could be on his way to Liverpool Football Club.

    The Reds are believed to be willing to pay £27million for the Spanish international striker, and Vicente Calderon official Miguel Angel Gil Marin has admitted for the first time that the 23-year-old could be on his way.

    “Nobody is essential,” Gil Marin told Punto Radio. “We are trying to build a team to compete and it is not about any one player and, good though he is, we want a squad that achieves its ambitions.

    “Atletico is creating a side that is not all about Torres, but about the team itself. I would love Fernando to stay, but it is Fernando himself who will decide his future. We have talked to him and told him that he is in our plans.

    “It is normal that he has doubts. It is also normal that there are offers that have caused him to stop and think. Things in football can change at any time and, although I do not see anything happening yet, I have to continue to work on looking for alternatives in case all this talk becomes a reality.”

  2. next seasons gonna be our year, trust me all! all da other teams wont ave a look! all da singings from last year are gonna be out in force, jus bcause dey didn do so well last year. but kuyt is gonna be da man! ANDRY VORONIN TOO!

  3. If rafa isn’t going 2 pay the 27million for him then move on because thats all A madrid are goin to let him go for so if your not willing to pay that then move on and try and get another star – let him go to the mancs or chelsea and you will soon see on what u have missed out on!!!!

  4. If Torres or Etoo are out I wouldn;t mind Rafa taking a look at signing both Obafemi Martins (13m) and Leroy Lita (6m?) or Ryan Babbel.

    What do you think of these guys?

  5. Chris Milburn is right , we need to catch the mancs!! and to have a premiership for our own, its has been much too long. if we do not try to have good striker this year we are done, forget the premiership .

  6. what???
    i thought we had an
    in with Fernando!!
    who cares about atletico
    madrid’s president.
    let fernando think
    about lfc on his own!!

  7. We need sum1 who is going to get 25 goals a season if we dont were just gonna b fighting for 3rd again we need to catch the MANCS!!!!!!

  8. Hi mates.. What do you guys think about Darren Bent as the choice instead of Torres.Bent is cheaper compared to torres and he is one of the proven young premiership player.Where as torres might find it difficult , atleast in the first season..Don’t you think so mates?

  9. Patience
    Rafa is a true pro and a great manager – behind the scenes there will lots going on and all for the good of liverpool football club long term new ground etc…new players included.
    Torres would be a great addition to those plans whatever the cost its not about how much you spend its how wisely you spend it
    I’m sure we will be better placed this season to challenge for league honours this term

  10. What the hell man?? No signings no results. Gillet and Hicks need to get their butts going man. WE need signings and need to get some sort of silverware next season. Torres is needed

  11. CHILLAX, They’re just trying to get others interested. He’ll sign for us (I hope). I expect Cisse to go the other way. I just wish they’d pay the 27 million and sign him now instead of stuffing around.

  12. well the athlectico president isn’t going to come out and say its a done deal. he’s going to say this to get the highest price out of any potential deal plus whatever player thrown in……….it means that liverpool have probably hinted at 20 mill plus garcia and athletico have thrown it out?

  13. Bravado, a spanish tactic to icke the price up hoping it will turn into an auction, We all know they are considering Cisse or Forlan to replace Torres. Benitez knows what he is doing, lets trust him.

  14. We finished 21 points behind the mancs they’ve already spent 53 million unless we match it with quality then we can forget the league again. It’s about time we had reality check and realised that to win the premier league you need big match winners who cost big money. The message is clear – hicks and gillet splash the cash or face another season fighting with bolton and spurs for a champions league place.
