Fernando Torres - LFC Number 9As our new number 9 Fernando Torres returns to his luxury holiday for a few more days before his real Anfield education commences, Jamie Carragher has spoken of his delight at the capture of the Spaniard.

“You have a great pedigree there. He is a young lad, very quick, which is good for the Premier League and I’m sure he will do very well.”

The vice-captain also issued a reminder to the board that the reds must now not allow other clubs to continue to use their financial muscle as an advantage.

“If other teams are spending double what you are spending on players they have an advantage on you,” said the England defender.

“If we want to bridge that gap we have to go in at the top end of the market.”

Well said Jamie lad. To be honest, the board haven’t dipped that hard in to their pockets yet - with deals for Garcia (done), Cisse (almost) and Bellamy (probably) that will actually cover this transfer fee.

Now is the time for the American’s to really dip in to ‘their own’ pockets and bring us some quality wingers to supply Torres, Kuyt, Crouch and not-forgetting Voronin!

Man United is going to sign Tevez. Chelsea is
going to sign Malouda. Who else are better wingers
than these two guys? Move quick RAFA! Tevez is
an ideal player for Liverpool at the moment!

Am very delighted 2 ,to hear that we have acquired a player of torres’ calibre.. Unlike the other Fernando we all know very well i think he is going to make an impresion right from the offset…. i would say to RAFA money well spent……

i think we need to start some serious spending if we want to be taken as serious league contenders next season. we need to approach tevez and try to secure his move to anfield before the mancs get any stronger,, does anyone agree????

tevez is at man utd now, lets face it.
i think we have some concerns in our squad. can we accommoate gerrard alonso sissoko and mascherooney in one midfield, of course not.
one of sissoko and mascherano will surely show his frustration.
the wingers we have on our books are currently:
pennant (right) what a CL final
kewell (left) will repay rafa’s faith as he did to the end of last season
gonzalez (left) started to settle in and then got left out the side
babel (left) better as a striker
benayoun (right) runs 4 days on end, but no end product

what im trying to say is we HAVE wingers, but maybe not the ones to provide a title.
an exciting player such as quaresma would be excellent on the right, and him and pennant would really give competiton for each other.
but as with bellamy, rafa just has to give pennant a 5-6 match run, and surely pennnant will show his true premiership form, as with kewell.
stick to your guns rafa, not to your wallet.

i would of thought rafa would of gone for tevez as macha and tevez are best mates and im sure you would of seen some magic. but its not to be so lets just see what happens.
