Xabi and Agger crocked

by Anfield Online | Thursday 20th September 2007 | @jd77

Liverpool were reeling today from the news that both Daniel Agger and Xabi Alonso face substantial spells on the sidelines.

Agger visited University Hospital Aintree in Liverpool on Wednesday where a broken metatarsal was diagnosed.  After a period of rest and rehabilitation the player is looking at 6 weeks on the sidelines at a crucial time for Liverpool in both the league and in Europe.

Xabi Alonso has suffered a similar injury and is expected to be out until the end of October.

Both Mascherano and Sissoko will be chomping at the bit to partner Gerrard in midfield, but Lucas Leiva may also be presented with more opportunities than he expected at an early stage in his Anfield career.

We wish both players a speedy recovery.
