Update: 5.30pm

Steve Finnan has joined Espanyol on a two year deal.  The fee has not yet been disclosed.

Andriy Voronin also moves to Hertha Berlin on a one year loan deal.

Peter Gulasci, the Hungarian keeper who spent a season on loan at Anfield last year, has signed a permanent deal with Liverpool.

“I am very proud to have signed for Liverpool,” said Gulacsi today. “It’s a dream for me to be working at such a great club, with expert trainers and alongside one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Pepe Reina.

“After spending one year on loan I had no hesitation in agreeing to sign a permanent contract. To have signed for Liverpool is an unbelievable feeling.”

Earlier today the reds completed the free signing of 18 year old Brazilian forward Vitor Flora.

Update: 5.45pm

News in that Liverpool have completed the signing of Espanyol winger Albert Riera on a 4 year deal.

Update: 6.12pm

Jermaine Pennant’s possible move to Stoke appears to have been scuppered after Stoke moved for two other midfielders.  Rumours suggest that Stoke refused to pay Jermaine the £50k a week he wanted.

Liverpool are believed to have paid around £7 million plus Steve Finnan to secure Riera’s signature.

Update: 7pm

Riera handed the number 11 shirt.  Player profile uploaded to the site.

Deadline

So that’s it.  Our calculators have been busy working away and despite being promised £40 million pound when the owners took out their huge loan earlier this year, the reds have spent £21 million net this summer. Man City meanwhile went out today and flashed £34 million on Robinho.

Ah well, I suppose we do have that £30 million interest payment to make soon.  What do we need players for anyway!

i think our americian owners and prick parry should be ashamed of themselves especially the way and which they have dragged our club through the mud over the last year all the promises they made where are they now, transfers ? not good enough to wear the red , our new stadium ? what wrong with redevloping anfield ? oh and what about DCI? why do you just sell to them and take your huge profits and go back to the states , things are so bad that a club of liverpool stature cant compete with man city , if liverpool and mr gillett and mr hicks and prick parry are not carefull we will end up like leeds utd

I think its better to give the team to one who first love the club and not bussiness oriented like the owner now.
DCI they will do the best and may be we will forget about nil trophies seasons.
