Be the first Have your say

Daniel AggerDaniel Agger looks set to make his comeback very shortly, and already the ‘like a new signing’ line has been delivered.

Rafa Benitez who is expecting to complete the purchase of an actual new central defender very shortly is clearly pleased by the return of the 23 year old, newly crowned Denmark’s Player of the Year.

“For us it’s like signing a new player. He is very close to starting a game for the first team”

“The injury he had wasn’t a bad one but we had problems also with Xabi Alonso, so we needed to be careful and we have missed him.

“We will be much better in the second part of this season.”

Agger broke his metatarsal in September.

On the flip side the reds may have to do without Steven Gerrard for Saturday’s clash with Middlesbrough as the player struggles to recover from a calf injury. Both Arbeloa and Aurelio also have knocks which could rule them out from the weekend trip.
