Rafa Benitez salutes the fans after the Arsenal victoryRafa Benitez, despite his disappointment expressed his pride in his players and wished Chelsea well in the final.

“We did not finish our chances.

“We did not play as we can in the first half but in the second, and early in extra-time, we were the better side.

“But we could not capitalise and their goals killed us. I’m still proud.”

“Chelsea played well and I wish them the best.”

Some sections of the media had criticised Benitez for substituting Torres, however Rafa put them straight:

“He had a problem with his hamstring.”
