Ryan Babel out of the Euros

Liverpools Ryan Babel will not play any part in this summers Euro 08 Championship tournament. The Netherlands international tore ankle ligaments in training this morning.

The Reds 21 year old star was set to play a major role in the Netherlands squad which sees them part of possibly the most interesting group, when the tournament kicks off. The Netherlands come up against France, Italy and Romania in Group C and the loss of Babel will be blow for Van Basten’s aims to do well in the group stages.

It is unknown at the moment exactly how long Ryan Babel will be out for but an injury of this sort will no doubt see him out of action for several weeks.

Meanwhile, Liverpools Dirk Kuyt is set to play some part in Sundays friendly for the Netherlands against Wales.
