Liverpool appeal Doni red card

by Jason Darby | Thursday 12th April 2012

Liverpool will appeal against Alexander Doni's red card against Blackburn Rovers.

An FA hearing later today will decide the outcome.

The reds do not deny that Hoilett was brought down, but plan to argue that with the returning defenders Hoilett was not denied a 'clear goalscoring chance'.

The independent panel can increase the ban by one game, but the reds have little to lose by appealing the red card.

The reds recalled Peter Gulacsi from his loan spell at Hull City, and the youngster is likely to be understudy to Brad Jones at Wembley at the weekend.
