Liverpool drawn against Manchester United in Europa League

The Europa League draw for the final 16 has been made and there are some big ties in the round.

But none more so than match number 5 which will see Liverpool take on Man Utd for a place in the Quarter Finals.

The first leg will be at Anfield before the return leg a week later at Old Trafford.  Ties will be played on the 10th and 17th March.

The reds will be hoping to end Louis Van Gaal's good record against Liverpool since taking over at Old Trafford where he has won all 4 of the Premier League games in the last two season.

The reds fared poorly under Brendan Rodgers - winning only 2 and losing 8 of the last 10 games against one of their biggest rivals.

Although the two sides have met 20 times in domestic cup competitions this will be their first face-off in European competition.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said:

"It's great. I said yesterday I wanted Man Utd - you can ask my staff."

Former LFC player Jamie Carragher also express his delight:

"Great Europa League draw for LFC, if we win happy days if we lose LVG will probably stay!!"

Elsewhere Valencia and Athletic Bilbao face off in an all Spanish tie while Spurs have been drawn against Klopp's former club Borussia Dortmund.

Winners of the last two years Sevilla will travel to Basel - the host for this years final.
