Liverpool moved on to 52 points in the Premier League and back into third place with an important victory over Arsenal at Anfield.

The LFC boss was visibly pleased with the response his players had made after they had some uncomfortable truths told following the miserable result earlier in the week.

Goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum ensured all three points would go our way and that the reds would complete a league double over the Gunners.

Speaking after the game the Liverpool boss said:

First of all we were absolutely spot on from the first second in the game.  We played a wonderful first half.

We created wonderful chances and scored only two times - we could have scored more in the first half.

We expected a response for Arsenal - especially with Alexis Sanchez.  It took five minutes, but it felt like fifty, for us to adapt to the situation (Arsenal half-time change).

The Liverpool boss also reflected on his anger after the Leicester defeat earlier in the week.

Directly after the game I found a few words.  And it was not asking for friendships if you want.  It was pretty clear.

Next day we analysed the game which was not fun for me when we did it, and not for the boys when they saw it.

But there came a point in the week when we had to finish (talking about) the Leicester game.  We have lost games but in this game there were so many bad individual performances so it's really difficult to win a football game.

We are the roller-coaster in this league.  A lot of ups, meanwhile too many downs, but you are really silly if you only focus on the bad things.

I don't like the fact that inconsistency is part of the development.

Usually you win games and lose against the big teams at the beginning.  We choose obviously a different way but it's part of the deal.

We have to keep on going and we will.
