Steven Gerrard sent the reds on their way before a Tim Cahill header salvaged a point for Everton.
Liverpool will no doubt put a vastly different side for this weekend’s FA Cup game with the reds in action again Wigan mid-week in the league. Diego Cavalieri could feature in goal and Mascherano is expected to return to the side. Alvaro Arbeloa could return after a recent injury but all eyes will be on just how many players Benitez will rest with Gerrard and Torres both likely to start on the bench.
