Reds owners asking ‘too much’ for club

If Liverpool’s American owners think they have more than doubled the value of the club in their troubled tenure they need to get back in to the real world.

With deadline day beginning to loom for repayment of their extravagant loans, as well as reporting day due for the club’s company accounts, placing a price tag of £500 M on a club that was bought for £200 M a couple of years back seems a little bit silly.

Speaking to financial media outlet Bloomberg, Abdulla Al-Sager  – a spokesman for the potential Kuwaiti buyers said negotiations were “going really badly”.

He says the £500million value put on the club by American businessmen Tom Hicks and George Gillett is too high.

Al-Sager, one of the possible investors in the consortium headed by Kuwait’s Al-Kharafi family, told Bloomberg:

“Things are going really badly, because they are asking for too much.

“I don’t think anything will happen unless we get a better price.”

Hicks and Gillett have until July to refinance their £350 million Liverpool debt.

  1. This is a joke. How can those idiots ask for more than double what they paid for the club. I think every Liverpool fan is sick to death of the yanks now, theyve made a complete farse of everything theyve done. Any kind of profit they get from an offer they should snap theyre hand off. Please sell up and f**k off now yanks because were never going to be successful again with these idiots.

  2. hicks and gillet have put the reds through this never ending soap opera. and strongly feel liverpool would be#1 if it wasnt for them. this soap opera has a trickle effect to our results on the ground as it creates distractions

  3. 1) Give Rafa total control

    2) Yanks sell up and go home

    3) Sell to the Kuwaiti

    4) Some players need to shape up or leave the club

    5) 19 Years is far to long

  4. That Americans didn’t know how to handle and taking cares abig football club like Liverpool.they only know how to earn lot of moneys from it and not even give adamn to club progress and fans like us,how sad its happening to our beloved club, treaten like a selling products not a football club.

  5. The Americans are amazingly greedy people who can’t seem to understand plain logic.Either they’ll have to refinance the massive loan or sell the club as soon as possible. In the current recession and knowing full well how the fan’s are fed-up with them they should accept any profit then sell the club on.

It’s the culture of the USA to complecate everything as much as possible, these people don’t know the meaning of simplicity.

  6. They are the major problem of the club, if they would just sell the club to these rich lads, I can see the glory coming back to anfield then, and only then.

  7. i just want this rubbish to just end, if george and tom want to sell then sell and stop harrassing rafa with his contract renewall.

  8. This is all going to come back and bite gillet and hicks for there greed. when those loans get called they will wish they had taken these reasonable offers. greed kills thats why the world economy is in the shape it is.
