Liverpool got back to winning ways in pre-season with a 2-0 win over AC Milan at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

New signing Georginio Wijnaldum was making his first start in a Liverpool shirt - and the reds debuted the new 'toxic thunder' third shirt.

With Loris Karius having returned to the UK with a broken bone in his hand - Simon Mignolet was returned to first choice in the goalkeeping department.

Starting Team

Lovren, Klavan, Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Mane, Coutinho, Sturridge.

The reds dominated possession but there was exceptionally little end product to go with it.  Despite the return of Sturridge it was actually Mane who got the reds first shot on target - in the 41st minute.

Domination but 0-0 at half time.

The second half was better for the reds.  Origi and Firmino came on amongst a total of 6 half time substitutes.

Just on the hour mark Origi, marking his first appearance in pre-season, fired in a curler to the far corner to break the deadlock.

10 minutes later he had the ball in the net again - but it was ruled out for offside.

Two minutes later and Firmino dispatched a deflected shot from Sheyi Ojo to give Liverpool breathing room of a 2-0 lead.

Next up for Liverpool is AS Roma, another of our famous European Cup final opponents, before the reds head home to finalise preparations for the Premier League season.
