Lallana – you knew what was coming didn’t you

The end of the football season started with determined intent from Liverpool's boardroom.

Hours after the end of the season it was 'Liverpool bid for Lallana' everywhere you turned.

Almost 3 weeks on and seemingly the price has upped from £20M, to £25M and now £30M. Hmmm.

Anyway, with the announcement yesterday of Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino becoming the Tottenham boss it was inevitable what was about to happen.

We waited with baited breath for one of the trigger happy journalists to come out with it....

Hurrah! Well done to Dominic Fifield of The Guardian who broke cover with...

Spurs have long admired Lallanas progress at Southampton and watched the England midfielder become the subject of a £20m bid from Liverpool this month, with Southampton seeking considerably more for him.

Liverpool believe the player’s wish is to join them, though Spurs will explore their own chances in the hope Pochettino’s influence could sway his decision.

Brilliant work Dominic!

Our understanding is that Liverpool do not value 26 year old Adam Lallana at the £25-£30M price bracket the media claim Southampton want, and the reds are prepared to move on to new targets if the player can't reach a deal before the World Cup.

Meanwhile, at Anfield, we wait.....
