FA CUP: Liverpool to face Everton in 3rd Round for first time in 85 years

Liverpool have been drawn against Everton in the pick of the FA Cup 3rd Round ties.

It will be the 24th meeting in the world's oldest cup competition between the two Merseyside clubs.

The clubs were drawn out 4th in tonight's televised event.

The two sides meet for the first time this season next weekend in the Premier League, but they will have less than a month until another meeting as they start their FA Cup campaigns in early January.

The two sides last met in the FA Cup in 2012 - when the reds beat Everton in the semi final at Wembley 2-1.

But the last 3rd round meeting between the two clubs stretches back 85 years to the winter of 1932.  That match was played at Goodison Park but again the reds ran out 2-1 victors.

The games will be played the weekend of the 4th and 5th of January.
