Klopp discusses West Brom, Emre Can and LFC injuries and rotation

Liverpool are preparing for another Premier League mid-week clash as the festive football season continues.

The reds welcome West Bromwich Albion to Anfield for the Wednesday night kick off and after the disappointment of Everton's draw - Klopp will be hoping to get back aboard the 3-point train.

Klopp was asked about Emre Can's contract issues:

'Whatever I could say about that is not for the press conference.  He could sign for us, the only difference from January is that he can sign for another club.

I speak a lot to Emre like all the others but it would be pretty rare for me to speak to him about a contract.  We've given him all the information and that's it.

Turning to West Brom, Klopp was asked about the arrival of Alan Pardew:

'We know about Alan Pardew - when he came in he wanted to play offensive football but for West Brom you cannot change things overnight.  They got the squad in the summer for a specific type of football, long balls, set pieces, very physical.

I'm not here to judge but you can only judge after Alan has been there for a bit more time.  They started the season well and then their situation changed.  Last game they played with all 3 strikers - I don't expect that against us.  But if they do then we have to handle this.

But it's a home game for us and that's all I've got to say about that.

Attention then turned to an update on the possible team selection and who is a definite no no for the game.

'We have a few knocks and will have to wait to see.  Nothing seriously long term after the last game but one or two will not have had enough time (since the Everton game).  We need each minute (until kick off) to judge that.

Alberto Moreno is not ready for sure.  We are sending him to different Doctors.  It's still possible that it's not that long - maybe six weeks but it's not decided yet.

Adam (Lallana) is back in training but now he needs to build it up.  We will need him for the next weeks - we should not need him for tomorrow but step by step we will need to bring him back to match fitness shape.

Joel (Matip) is not in training.  He is running, but not more.

Klopp was then asked if Liverpool's poor form last January had impacted upon his decision to rotate players now.

But he refuted this suggestion and said that last December he couldn't rotate because he had so many injuries in November.

'If we would have had this squad last year we would have done it.

'When you get injuries in early November like we did last year, then you cannot rotate in December because the players aren't there and then you suffer in January like we did.

'For all these games, if we have the quality of the squad that we have then we have to use it.  You cannot play the same 11 players all the time until 4 of them are injured and then you hope that 4 people will just come in without any rhythm.

Liverpool take on West Brom at 8pm tomorrow night at Anfield.
