Liverpool return to Champions League action tomorrow night for the final game in the group stages. The club are on the threshold of qualifying for the knockout stages for the first time this decade.
It was Rafa Benitez, who reached two finals as boss winning one, that was the last Liverpool manager to take the reds into the final 16 of Europe's most prestigious club competition.
A win or a draw against Spartak would be enough to take the reds into the draw for the next round - but Spartak have everything to play for - a win for them would take them through. Meanwhile Sevilla travel to Maribor who are already eliminated from European competition for the rest of this season.
Klopp revealed that Klavan and Gomez had fully recovered from their illnesses which had kept Klavan on the bench, and Gomez out of the squad at the weekend.
Klopp was asked about the importance of this Liverpool game in the context of all the matches in December. His reply was to the point.
'The Game. It is THE game. We are only part of the Champions League because we want to go to the next round. All good and bad things that happened so far, mostly good, brought us into this situation and if we win we are throught and that is cool. I know a lot of people before the game might think we're through but that's not life - it's about the moment. Spartak could say the same. They gave 4 points away against Maribor and they would in a different situation.
I'm really looking forward to it. It is very important. We are stronger than when we (last) player them but so they are they. They have some of their offensive players back. It's an exciting game and that is the Champions League.
Klopp was also asked if the weekend game v Everton would affect his plans for the team. He brushed that suggestion aside.
We want to go through - we have a chance and we will not hesitate to line up our best team, which is what we have done always.
Even when we have made changes (recently) it was about bringing in the players with the concentration and fresh legs to win the game and thankfully it has worked quite well in recent games. That is what we will do tomorrow. We can't line up for the derby tomorrow night.
Joel Matip and Adam Lallana are still unavailable - Matip could be out for the rest of the month.
If we had been 3-0 up v Sevilla at Anfield it would not have happened. The atmosphere helped (them) a lot. The atmosphere tomorrow should and could help us tomorrow. We all know how special this place can be at special moments.
That is what I want. That is what everyone knows.
Thank god it's cold so people need to move to keep kind of warm. I'm really excited about the opportunity. This game - you don't have guarantees in life. If you don't try all you get nothing so let's try it all.
Klopp was also asked by a Brazilian journalist what makes him sure that Coutinho would be here in February?
'Nothing. But I don't think about it - I think about the Moscow game - not one second have I thought about that. I'm not unsure, I'm not sure. I don't think about it.
Nobody knows what happens in January a nice and calm transfer window. It's nice from an outside view. Absolutely nothing to say about that.'
Liverpool kick off at 7:45pm v Spartak Moscow.
