Liverpool lose appeal over Sadio Mane’s suspension

Sadio Mane will miss the next 3 domestic games for Liverpool after the FA rejected Liverpool's appeal.

Mane will miss Burnley (H) Premier League, Leicester (A) League Cup and Leicester (A) Premier League.

The reds had hoped to reduce his 3 game suspension - suggesting that the incident was an accident.  There were two similar incidents in the Swansea/Newcastle game and the West Ham/Huddersfield clash.  One incident was punished with a yellow card, whilst the other resulted in no referee action.

Sadio is available to play for Liverpool in tomorrow night's Champions League clash against Sevilla at Anfield but he won't return until the Spartak Moscow game away in Russia on the 26th September.

His first Premier League game back should be the trip to Newcastle United on the first day of October.

Mane's dismissal was only the third in Jurgen Klopp's time as manager and Liverpool had gone through the entire 2016/17 season without a red card.
