Klopp refuses to speculate on Coutinho future

Jurgen Klopp, delivering his pre-match press conference before the visit of Everton, refused to be drawn into speculation concerning a move from Barcelona for Coutinho.

The club had announced in the summer that Coutinho would not be sold in that transfer window, but no announcement has been forthcoming so far.

This has led many to suggest that Liverpool's silence suggests for the right price a deal could be done this month.

'I have nothing to say about it.  That's actually how it is.  It's a transfer window but that's all.  I know already that means that I opened the door half-way because I mentioned 'it's a transfer window'.  But there is nothing I can say that will help me, the player or the club.

'Whatever you can consider is obviously not my cup of tea, sorry that sounds harsh but I'm not interested in that as well.  Maybe 80% of the cameras are only here to be interested in these answers - well that's a waste of time.

Klopp was then asked about Coutinho's fitness for the game.

'Mo Salah and Phil are not available so it's not possible.'

The player missed the reds first game of 2018 - away at Burnley - and didn't feature for the reds this season until after the summer transfer window had closed.

But he did offer some hope that this wasn't a transfer related injury.

Mo and Phil are not big injuries to be honest.  It's only been a week that's the problem.  We were quite lucky when I heard about the diagnosis.  Usually in this period you get an injury for 4 or 5 weeks.  But now we are talking about (them missing) 2 games.

I think he (Phil) will be a bunch of players back for the City game.

The reds welcome Everton, without Coutinho or Salah, tomorrow evening at 7:55pm.
