Liverpool welcome back Jordan Henderson after troubled 2017

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has returned to full team training, almost a month after picking up a hamstring injury.

The reds midfielder suffered a grade 2 hamstring tear in the opening 10 minutes of the 3-3 away draw at Arsenal just before Christmas.

Despite his absence the reds have enjoyed their best spell of the season - winning all 5 matches without him in the matchday squad, including an FA Cup victory over Everton and last weekend's victory over the previously unbeaten Manchester City.

His return to full training may not have been timely enough however for him to be included in plans for Monday night's game against Swansea although he will travel with the side and is expected to be named in the 18 man matchday squad.

With the chances of bringing in Naby Keita early receding quickly, and continued speculation over the future of Emre Can - Jordan Henderson's return will be required to bolster competition as the reds continue their quest in domestic and European cup campaigns, as well as aiming to narrow a gap at the top end of the Premier League.

He missed out on around 5 months of football in 4 separate spells in 2017, however Liverpool's captain has made 23 appearances this season, grabbing 1 goal and 1 assist along the way but will need to get straight back into his best form with the World Cup on the horizon.
