Liverpool 2-2 West Brom: Late Origi strike rescues a point for LFC

Liverpool rescue a point in the 95th minute of the game at Anfield.

The reds were promising early on, and despite West Brom's heavy defensive attitude - Liverpool were creating some chances - often through threaded balls to the wing.

It was only fitting that midway through the half Jordan Henderson got the first Liverpool goal - a cross from Coutinho being headed down by Lallana - the Liverpool captain stroking the ball into the net.

The reds looked like they were well on their way to a decent Anfield win but events would take a different turn with the intervention, or lack of, from Simon Mignolet in the 30th minute.

The Liverpool keeper flapped at a cross before Craig Dawson fired in the equaliser through his legs.

In the last minute of the first half West Brom had the ball in the net again.  The referee ruled the goal out - replays confirming that several of West Brom's players were offside.

In the second half West Brom took the lead from another set piece.  A corner was sent in deep in to the Liverpool box, taking the goalkeeper by surprise, and Olsson duly headed in.

Dejan Lovren was stretched off the pitch towards the end of the game after receiving a nasty injury to his knee sustained in a fifty-fifty challenge.

His injury led to 8 minutes of injury time and in the 5th minute of time added on Divock Origi, a late substitute, fired in to rescue a point.

Klopp, whilst no doubt disappointed with the result, was pleased with the response of the fans and took his players to The Kop to applaud their contribution at the end.
