Duff in the dark

Blackburn winger Damien Duff has admitted to being in the dark over his future at the club as rumours persist that he will be on his way out of Ewood Park this summer.

Liverpool and Manchester United are the reported front-runners in the chase for his signature when the transfer window re-opens next month, and the Rovers board are believed to be willing to listen to offers for the prodigious young talent.

Reds boss Gerard Houllier is a long time admirer of Duff, but has publicly stated that he would only be interested in signing him ‘at the right price’ and may be put off by the inflated price tag Graeme Souness has pinned on his prize asset.

However, despite expressing his frustration at his ‘ridiculous’ potential fee last weekend, Duff insists he has not received any contact from the interested parties and is happy at Blackburn Rovers.

“I am truly in the dark about what might be happening. I think the player is always the last to know. At the moment, I just consider it paper talk,” he said.

“I haven’t talked to the gaffer about it yet. I am happy where I am at the minute and that’s as a Blackburn Rovers player.

“Of course, I can enjoy it at some level. You must be doing something right if you are being linked to the biggest clubs, but I haven’t heard anything from any club.

“My only preference as a club is Blackburn Rovers and that’s all there is to say on the matter,” said the highly rated star.
