Agent confirms Reds reach deal on West Ham’s Yossi

News reports from the Associated Press agency indicate that Liverpool have agreed a fee with West Ham United for their midfielder Yossi Benayoun.

The 27 year old is Captain for his country (Israel) and is rumoured to be the highest paid Israeli sportsman in the World.

According to his agent Ronen Katzev:

“It should be completed in the next 48 hours. Everybody would be happy to play for Liverpool. West Ham will always be in his heart but he is looking to move up a level.”

The fee is believed to be just over £4 million and the player is taking a pay cut to join Liverpool.

Reds may remember Yossi from the last FA Cup Final at the Millenium Stadium when the player had an excellent game causing the reds a whole host of problems.

Yossi has scored 12 times in 50 appearances for his country, and scored 8 times in 63 appearances for West Ham. He usually operates as an attacking central midfielder – a role, strangely, that Steven Gerrard seems to enjoy.

The deal is expected to be confirmed some time on Wednesday.
