Aquilani makes unofficial Liverpool debut

Alberto Aquilani played for the final 15 minutes in tonight’s 2-0 reserves win over Sunderland – without a beach ball in sight to help the Black Cats.

The Italian has been unavailable for selection all season but came on in the 75th minute as the reds were leading 1-0.

Rising star Dani Pacheco again gave a loud knock on Rafa Benitez’ door with another brilliant free kick to help the reds in to a first half lead.  George Gillett was at Prenton Park to watch the reserves in action.

After Aquilani’s arrival, Liverpool doubled the lead. Again – a Dani Pacheco free-kick was involved – this time finding Robbie Threlfall who headed home from the free kick.

John McMahon’s Liverpool Reserves side now have 5 consecutive wins to their name and the youth side is really beginning to gel.

All over the pitch there are exciting and promising talent.  With the senior’s injury problems and poor form – one or two may be almost ready to make themselves a new Anfield hero.

Liverpool Reserves: Hansen, Darby, Threlfall, Ayala, Mavinga, Irwin, Eccleston, Amoo (Weijl 87), Saric (Brouwer 64), Pacheco, Kacaniklic (Aquilani 75). Subs: Mendy, Bouzanis.

Our Man of the Match: Another match winning performance from Dani Pacheco.
