Liverpool rewarded with double Premier League prizes

Liverpool's solid start to the Premier League campaign has been recognised in the monthly awards.

Brendan Rodgers picked up the August award for Manager of the Month whilst Daniel Sturridge picked up the August award for Player of the Month.

The reds have won all three of their opening games 1-0, but only the first two games were played in August.

Brendan Rodgers has collected the award previously, in January 2012, whilst at Swansea.

Liverpool last collected that award in 2008-09 season, when Rafael Benitez won it twice.

Daniel Sturridge picks up Liverpool's 17th award in the Player of the Month category, and the first winner for just under 4 years.  Fernando Torres being the last recipient of the award whilst in a red shirt.
