Tranmere 0-1 Liverpool

Pre Season Friendly
Saturday 12th July 2008 @ 3pm
Prenton Park

Daniel Agger returned to the Liverpool side, and new boys Phillip Degen and Diego Cavalieri also got second half appearances under their belt, as the reds started the new season with a victory over Tranmere.

Spanish youngster Daniel 'The Kid' Pachecho, only 17, played up front and showed some glimpses of why he could be a real Anfield gem in future years.

Liverpool dominated the game for the entire 90 minutes and the 1-0 scoreline flattered Tranmere.  Pacheco and Pennant had great chances before Lucas set up Benayoun to fire home.  Lucas will shortly be heading off to the Olympic Games but he looked lively in the red shirt today.

Later on in the game Steven Gerrard made an appearance and with Voronin the pair combined a number of times, unfortunately without any end result.

A victory under their belts and the Liverpool players will now head off to their Swiss training camp.
