Liverpool 1-1 Man Utd

Liverpool and Man Utd both scored in the second half to take a point apiece from the early kick off at Anfield.

Steven Gerrard marked his return to the starting line up with a goal from a free kick, before Hernandez scored in the last 10 minutes from a corner.

Gerrard’s return to the starting side left no room for Jordan Henderson, and Suarez was used up front on his own – with both Bellamy and Carroll amongst the substitutes.

The first half was a relatively tame affair – Luis Suarez having the chance of the half after he latched on to a blocked Charlie Adam shot.  He twisted and turned but slipped at the vital moment, firing the ball straight at De Gea.

The reds breakthrough came in the second half, when Charlie Adam was brought down by Rio Ferdinand outside the box.  Poor defensive work from Man Utd enabled Steven Gerrard to fire his free kick through the gap and in to the net.

Man Utd chose to send on Rooney and Hernandez and it was the latter who grabbed the equaliser late on when a corner came in and the player nudged the ball over the line.

The reds had a barrage of chances late on, with the normally dodgy De Gea producing a number of saves to keep his side back in it.

United leave Anfield with their undefeated status intact, but Liverpool will feel disappointed that they only took a point.

The reds stay in 5th place and look forward to a home game in a weeks time against newcomers Norwich.
