Liverpool’s 2012-13 season ends with a win as we wave goodbye to Carragher

Jamie Carragher's final game for Liverpool ended with a win as the reds ran out deserved 1-0 winners over relegated QPR.

With QPR's fate already sealed and Liverpool rooted in 7th place, the game had a testimonial feel as the crowd celebrated Jamie Carragher's 737th appearance for the club.

A guard of honour was formed as he walked on to the pitch, a mosaic was displayed on the Kop, songs were sung and in the second half Carragher threatened to lift the roof off the stadium as he saw a shot from outside the area rattle the post.

Sadly there was to be no goal for his final appearance, but you sense he will have taken as much pleasure in another clean sheet.

Liverpool's goal came midway through the first half - Coutinho expertly drilling a low drive in to the net at the Anfield Road end.

17 year old Jordan Ibe was handed his Liverpool debut, and improved as time went on in the game.  He was involved in Coutinho's goal and had a chance of his own  in the second half - just firing wide.

Coutinho could have had a goal earlier when a header from him looked like it had crossed the line - however the officials saw differently.  QPR had claims for a penalty turned down too when Lucas tripped Loic Remy.

Liverpool had chances in the second half, primarily from Enrique and Johnson, but Sturridge had a quiet game and Downing too offered little threat.

Carragher was substituted in the 85th minute to a standing ovation and You'll Never Walk Alone rang around the ground before the final whistle.

The reds finish 7th with 61 points.

A big summer ahead for Brendan.
