Setanta in administration – LFC.TV to be hit

Sports network Setanta has today gone in to administration with it’s UK business arm – days after losing the right to show Premiership football in the UK and also the Scottish Premier League in the UK and Ireland.

LFC.TV, our club’s official TV channel, is one of the numerous channels that was covered by Setanta.

The TV station will remain ‘on-air’ online, but will be looking in to ways to get back on to the airwaves before it suffers any serious financial fall-out.

Liverpool have been aware of Setanta’s plight for a number of weeks now and were believed to be drawing up contingency measures.

ESPN stepped in to take over Setanta’s 46 Premier League games next season and will also take 23 games for the following seasons.  ESPN is likely to introduce a pay-per-view package on Satellite TV in the UK.

Most of Setanta’s channels, except Setanta News which is jointly owned by Virgin Media, are likely to go off within hours.  All existing subscriptions are likely to be cancelled.
