Coutinho stretchered off at Anfield with suspected broken bone

Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho was stretchered off in the first half of Liverpool's clash against Sunderland at Anfield.

In a half with few chances the Brazilian was twisting and turning outside the area when he went to play the ball back into the box.

Unfortunately as he did so Ibrahim Ndong got his own foot behind the ball.

Coutinho went down signalling immediately for medical assistance.  A couple of minutes later his foot was braced up and he was stretchered off.

As the reds prepare to enter their busiest spell of the season Coutinho being out would be a massive blow but initial suspicions centre on a broken metatarsal bone or at the least damaged ankle ligaments.
