Sakho left at home by club as he rejects B sample test

Mamadou Sakho is likely to miss the rest of Liverpool's season.

The player was left out by Liverpool voluntarily at the weekend after news broke of a failed drugs test by UEFA.  The test was carried out after the 2nd leg away draw against Manchester United.

He has not travelled with the Liverpool side who take on Villarreal in the first leg of the Europa League semi final tomorrow evening.

Sakho had until last night to decide whether he wanted the 'B' sample tested - taken at the same time - but he will not challenge UEFA's findings.

No official announcement has yet been made but several media sources believe the chemical found was that of a fat-burning substance, similar to the one that saw Kolo Toure banned for 6 months whilst at Manchester City in 2011.

Sakho, by not challenging the result of the test, will likely face his ban sooner.

Any suspension would cost Sakho his place at this years European Championships with France.
