Klopp: I’m sick of conceding goals like this. They scored too easily

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was clearly frustrated following the League Cup round 3 defeat away at Leicester City.

The reds did not take their chances in the first half, despite promising showings from Andy Robertson and Philippe Coutinho.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, in the starting XI for the first time, wasted a few chances in the opening 45 minutes.  The reds haven't won a game since his arrival on transfer deadline day.

Speaking immediately after the match Klopp was asked how he can explain the result.

It’s actually easy to explain, we played good football in the first-half and missed big chances.

That’s football – it’s at least 90 minutes. The goals we conceded are a second ball from a corner and a throw in again.

I’m sick of (conceding) goals like this to be honest, you cannot play football and do that.

The Leicester team somehow survive in the game as we aren’t clinical enough. That's okay but then you need to stay concentrated. They scored too easily.

With the first goal we don’t push up together. I’ve said it 1,000 times.’

The manager also explained the decision to take Coutinho off at half time.

45 minutes was the limit for him.  It was always the plan to take him off at half-time.’

The reds have got to do it all again at Leicester this Saturday in the Premier League.  It will be Sadio Mane's final game suspension - he is expected to return for the trip to Spartak Moscow next midweek.
