Liverpool handed English Quarter Final clash in UEFA Champions League

There will be one English representative, but just the one after both remaining English sides were drawn against each other in the UEFA Champions League Quarter Final draw.

The three Spanish sides succesfully avoided each other - with Barcelona handed the best draw of the round - a tie against Roma.

Sevilla will face Bayern Munich, whilst Juventus take on Real Madrid.

With thousands of Liverpool fans eagerly poised on the websites of airline companies, there is some disappointment that the travelling distance will be less than a hour down the M62 motorway.

Liverpool are the only side to have beaten Man City in the league this season, although City were comfortable winners at their stadium when the reds were reduced to 10 men just before half time.

The first game will be held at Anfield, and in between the 2nd leg a week later - the reds will travel to Goodison Park for a Merseyside derby.  Man City will be facing Man United at home in a game that could see them named as Champions of England.

Andriy Shevchenko made the draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon earlier this morning.

Liverpool have won both previous 2 legged games against Man City, in the League Cup in 2011/12 and 1980/81.  On both occasions the reds were successful they went on to win the trophy.
