Liverpool drawn against Porto in European Cup Quarter Final

Liverpool will meet FC Porto in their 15th European Cup Quarter Final clash.

If the reds go through they will face Barcelona or Man Utd in the semi final.

The first leg of the Quarter Final will be at Anfield but a semi final will see the first leg played away from home.

The reds have progressed to the semi-final on 10 of the previous 14 attempts.

Since the Champions League rebrand at the turn of the century, the reds since 2001 have taken part in the competition 11 years - this is the 7th quarter final in that time and the reds went on to reach the semi-final on 4 of the previous 6 attempts.

The reds have already had a difficult ride in the competition.

Despite reaching last season's final at their first attempt since getting back into the competition, the reds narrowly missed out on being seeded in the second group of clubs and therefore went into the group as third favourites behind PSG and Napoli.

However after an Anfield victory against PSG, the reds had reason for optimism and despite three away defeats - the Anfield wins helped the club progress.

But in the last 16 the club were handed a draw at Bayern Munich, the 2nd highest ranked side in Europe at the time, and the second leg away.  But Liverpool delivered a masterful controlled away performance to reach this quarter final stage alongside all 3 other English clubs.

This season's final will be held at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium, which Atletico Madrid moved into last season.
