Liverpool name new Managing Director

Liverpool FC have appointed a Managing Director – Christian Purslow.

The new MD will also run the club while a replacement Chief Executive is found to fill Rick Parry’s shoes.

The club have said Christian is a season-ticket holder and fluent in Spanish. He is 45 years old and is an executive director at Mid Ocean Partners, a global investment firm.  He has been involved in deals such as the purchase of leisure group, LA Fitness and Center Parcs.

Both of the owners have commented on the appointment. George Gillett with:

“There’s a lot to get done and Christian will be a valuable addition to the team.”

“Tom Hicks and I felt that it was important to put a highly experienced and respected executive in place to run the club and support the senior team and the manager,”

And Tom Hicks said:

“Christian has been a great supporter of the club for many years and he’s already built up good relationships at Anfield.

“His strategic and commercial acumen will be a real asset and we’re delighted that he has made a long term commitment to the club.”
