Liverpool trio to miss internationals with injury

Liverpool's Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge have been withdrawn from England duty, the FA confirms.

Both players picked up injuries during the course of the weekend's fixture against Man United.

They will miss a Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania, as well as a friendly against Italy.

Sturridge was sent home from the England training camp last night - the FA saying:

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has left the England squad and returned home to his club on Monday evening.

This follows a scan on an injury that he sustained during Liverpool’s game against Manchester United on Sunday.

The England medical team took the decision on Monday evening having assessed Daniel following the squad’s arrival at St. George’s Park on Monday afternoon.

Lallana never even got as far as joining up with the players - he was replaced by Spurs' Ryan Mason on Monday.

Away from England, Dejan Lovren will also miss international duty.  His country Croatia are in qualifying action against Norway on Sunday.  The Croatian FA made reference to an 'abdominal wall injury' although the player appeared to be involved in full training with Liverpool last Friday.
