THE RETURN OF GOD

Liverpool yesterday sensationally brought back Robbie Fowler, the club he started his football aged 11 with, in a free transfer deal till the end of the season.

The talk here in Liverpool had suggested it, but the former boy wonder and Liverpool captain has returned to Anfield.

Rafa Benitez, who didn't fancy Owen much, has brought back Robbie on a free transfer after he left the club in 2002 for £11 million. All eyes will now be on whether Robbie can show even a glimmer of the form he used to display in Rafa's new red machine. Rafa said he had never seen anyone as excited to join a club before.

Fowler was clearly ecstatic. He said he couldn't believe it and that it was still sinking in. He praised Stuart Pearce, his former manager, who let him come back to the club he loves.

And Rafa commented that this was clearly a footballing decision. Indicating that while Liverpool are already at a high level, he believes Robbie can clearly take them even further forward.

We at Anfield Online wish him every success and hope that he can re-ignite his career with us, and we are proud to have him back where he belongs.
