Newcastle 2-1 Liverpool - it should have stopped after 8 minutes

Unfortunately referee Mark Halsey decided to continue the game. For another 82 minutes - plus stoppage time!

Seriously though, this game was all about woeful finishing from the reds - we should have been 3 or 4 up at half time. Newcastle scored late in the first half thanks to some poor goalkeeping, this time from Reina, and in the second half Nobby Solano scored from the spot to all but end our chances of finishing in the top two.

If you’ve got the stomach for it - read the match report.

If you’d rather just watch the match highlights then here

for the biggest pack of robbers in the land. You girls, do a great deal of moaning about being robbed. Can i point out that the newcastle team played in the same conditions as your team did.

goal tender Reina HaHaha

Pete, do Geordies not understand the phrase ’sarcasm’. Did I even mention the ‘conditions’ of the game. But your right - the pitch was crap. Just like the Newcastle trophy museum must be. Have you even got one?

We have many many trophies for golfing accolades in our trophy room. So there!

Dave Feb 11th 2007 [11:15]

Hey, come on now John, that Intertoto cup will need some polishing I’m sure! Just because our dust removal technicians work slightly less hours/days a week than yours doesn’t mean we aren’t justly proud of taking ownership of a trophy that appears to have been stuck together from previously rejected cups just for us this year.

Anyway, we are making a habit of scoring from the few chances we create and the Welsh Wonder can’t have enjoyed being howled at by 10,000+ Gerdies as he raced towards the Gallowgate in the way strikers hesitate in front of the Kop. If the BBC figures are correct, you had the chances whilst we had the possesion (unless I misread them) and we just hit paydirt.

Oh, and the ‘goal tender’ comment is funny. Wait until the shoulder pads are introduced. And defensive, midfielding and attacking linesmen.

Hey, it’s a game of two halves - the toon were definately the better team in second. Although LFC should have scored 4 in the first period through the ex-toon reject. Just look at his scoring record in the time he spent at St.James Park; this explains my point. It looks to me that LFC are taking 2 steps forward and 3 back these days!

To the gobby NUFC fans above…one game doesnt define a season. Where are you in the league? And now…where are Liverpool? Get used to it.

Liverpool are lacking descent strikers. We need consistancy with scoring of goals. I hope we are in the market for a striker or two.
