Smoke out the Anfield snake

Today's story in the Daily Mirror quotes one 'concerned' senior board member at Anfield deciding to play a bit of Football Manager and feeling able to pass comment on Rafael Benitez's managerial qualities.

Rafa Benitez - the man who in his first season in charge of Liverpool brought home the European Cup for keeps, after a 21 year wait.

The man who last season hauled Liverpool to their best performing Premiership points total since the competition was founded in 1992, and adding another FA Cup.

This source, widely believed to be one of the club's 6 directors, must be rooted out.

The anonymous board member passed criticism on the team selection against Manchester United, and suggested that the days of standing by the manager at Liverpool would end shortly if improvement was not mustered.

The comments are spineless and show a complete lack of respect to a man held in such high regard by millions of Liverpool supporters. He has no right to be on the board representing views of the fans.

The Chairman needs to find the senior member who gave these quotes to the Daily Mirror and he needs to be named - and he needs to be named soon. His comments have overstepped the mark set between the club manager and the club's financiers. Too many other clubs have had team selection issues removed from the power of the manager and taken on the whim by the men in grey suits.

It's not going to happen at Anfield. We don't work like that.

The rumours of the past week and now this story have cast a dark shadow over our start to the season. If anything it has galvanised our support for the manager, his players and our club captain.

Weed out this spineless snake Mr. Moores.

Update (1st November 2006)
Congratulations for the Liverpool chairman doing the right thing and weeding out the perpetrator of these comments. You got it right Mr. Moores with 'It isn't the Liverpool way of doing business.' Case closed on this one.

Your verdict...

"Rafa is not perfect, but he is the best man for the job. This snake of a director is not fit to be connected with Liverpool FC for one second more than it takes to track him down.

As a supporter for 46 years I have been proud of the dignified way our board have acted. They get things wrong from time to time, but they always act in th best interests of the club. This guy has forfeited any right to speak for the club. Forza Liverpool! "

"YNWA is something new to him. This source who ever he is showed with his action that his is not what Liverpool stand for and not what I stand for. Get him out and keep Benitez as long as possible.
