THE EDITOR: GET OFF HOULLIER'S BACK - FOR NOW

The dust has settled now on the Villa result and the newsgroups have been full of frustrated reds questioning Houllier's ability.

Liverpool's season has failed to kick start only 2 games in compounded by the fact that Chelsea, Arsenal and United are already making hay. Newcastle, like Liverpool, have 1 point from 2 in similar games to the reds. Is anyone calling for Robbo's sacking. No.

The idiots who are calling for Houllier's sacking or resignation know absolutely nothing about the proud history of our club and the way it does business. Houllier has brought four players to the club in the close season, two of which he has had lined up for nearly three years - showing his commitment and thought about the reds both now and a couple of years ahead. The man has not been rushed in to any panic buys and buys players he believes have the ethic to fit in to Liverpool.

Some idiots have even suggested we could be in a relegation battle - I seriously wonder about the mental states of some of these people.

The season is still fresh and the reds need our support - although I personally don't think we are title material I do believe our side is better than last years and once we hit form we will hand out some hidings.

True Liverpool supporters will have the courage and sense to give Houllier's new side time to gel and to start racking up the points. All the other idiots will no doubt be supporting a different club next season - they're probably the type who cheer United on in the Champions League because they're 'English'.

The football season has only just begun and I really can't be bothered having to re-visit this topic again this season. Let's enjoy the season - and make an assessment of whether Houllier's the man at the end of the season - the way our proud club usually does.
