HAMANN QUASHES TRANSFER RUMOURS

Dietmar Hamann has dismissed rumours suggesting he is on his way out of Anfield.

The Liverpool midfielder has been rumoured to become a possible casualty of a close season clear-out and revealed there is 'real determination' to improve on last season's mistakes.

The German is adamant he is happy at Anfield and is hoping to play a vital role in the Reds' title challenge this coming season.

He said: "It just goes to show it was all speculation. This has happened to me for the last three or four years now and it always seems to start up at the same times each year.

"I don't know why it happens and I'm not that interested. I am still here so it shows there was no truth in the rumours at all. All I know is I have two years left to go on my contract and I am happy here."

He added in the Echo: "Last season was disappointing and we know we have to do better. The run we went on in the middle of the season was very poor and we can't let that can't let that happen again."
