HOULLIER HAILS THE NEW ROBERTO CARLOS

Gerard Houllier has challenged John Arne Riise to become Liverpool's Roberto Carlos down the left flank.

Riise will return to the team against Leicester tomorrow following the injury to Jamie Carragher, when he'll be given a chance to show he has overcome the dip in form which cost him his place earlier in the campaign.

Houllier says he has no qualms in calling on Riise's services, saying the target for the Norwegian is to offer the Reds what Brazilian star Roberto Carlos gives to the star-studded Real Madrid line-up.

"John Arne Riise came on last week and did very well at Blackburn," said Houllier. "He is going to be in the team for some time now following the injury to Carra. One person's mis-fortune can be somebody elses happiness.

"Riise is a good defender but I think there are times when he needs to believe in himself a bit more. He could be like Roberto Carlos for us down the left. He can get up and down the field, he can score goals and he can create goals."
