OWEN'S LFC FUTURE HANGS IN THE BALANCE

On a day of hot stories in the press, Michael Owen's Liverpool future appears to hang in the balance and this time tomorrow we will know all the answers.

It appears that Real Madrid and Barcelona have both tabled offers for the player who has yet to sign a new Liverpool contract.

If he is picked to play for Liverpool in tomorrow's game against Grazer AK then he will be cup-tied for all Champions League matches for any other European club this season, effectively ending interest from abroad for another season, or slashing any possible transfer fee.

Benitez was pressed about the Owen situation and whether Owen would play but curtly replied:

"Michael is on my list and he can play, I never name my team but he can play, he is listed.

"It is an important match and we will see then, but I do not want to talk about one player."

"For me it is important for this match that I do not talk about individual players.

"Michael has travelled and I can use him if I want.

"My job is to pick the best team for this big match which is very, very important to us.

"I will decide during the night my team and formation. All the 19 players here can play.

"I have nothing to say about the contract, I am only talking about whether he plays or does not play, the rest is the future."
