GERRARD'S GETTING EXCITED!

He's been looking a bit miserable has our Steven of our late, his mates Danny and Michael have gone, and maybe at the back of his mind he was wondering whether he should have joined Chelski after all.

But the Liverpool captain appears that he is now excited by the challenges ahead of Liverpool this year, and appears to be pleased with the recent signings by new boss Rafael Benitez.

"I've seen Xabi on television in the Spanish League and he's a class act," says Gerrard.

"He's young and he's a clever footballer. I'm looking forward to playing with him.

"The fans are going to like him. He keeps the ball well and has a good range of passing. I think our fans will like Luis Garcia as well. He's an exciting player to watch.

"The four signings the gaffer has made have definitely strengthened us.

"This is the kind of quality we want at the club. The competition for places is going to bring the best out of everyone.
