ROQUE NOT AFRAID OF ANFIELD

Bayer Leverkusen defender Roque Junior believes his side will get a result at Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

The Brazilian World Cup winner is determined to help his current club take the upper hand in their UEFA Champions League tie and erase memories of a woeful spell with Leeds United last season.

The South American spent the first half of last term on loan to The Whites from Italian giants Milan and endured a nightmare few months, as Leeds' fall from The Premiership started to unfold during his time at Elland Road.

He then finished the campaign by moving on loan to Siena during last season's January transfer window before making a free transfer move to The BayArena in the summer.

The defender admitted to relishing the chance of playing Rafa Benitez's side and that the atmosphere at Anfield will not be a problem for the Bundesliga club.

"I know that Liverpool have a great European tradition, but I don't fear playing at Anfield at all," Roque Junior said.

"It's a beautiful ground and I expect it to be full of supporters who are very famous for their passion. But that doesn't bother us.

"The tie will be resolved on the pitch and not by the people in the stands."

The defender was sad to see Leeds fall from The Premiership last season, but added the experience he gained in West Yorkshire was beneficial.

"I still hold good memories of being at Leeds and living in the city," he added.

"It was an important experience in my career and I genuinely felt sad when the team was relegated."
